Teen Mental Health Kit

THE TASK

This kit is designed to be given to a teen to support positive mental wellness. The items in this kit were chosen by our Youth Advisory Council, made of of teens from diverse backgrounds, to support the mental wellness of fellow teens. 

THE RECIPIENT

The completed KyndKit can be delivered to any teen, local school, or community center. They can be used to reduce stress and anxiety, create positive mental health coping tools, and give them support when they might be struggling. 

 

THE REASON

We all struggle with our mental health from time to time. These kits are designed by teens, for teens. They provide an opportunity to deal with stress, anxiety, and other mental health related struggles with a variety of tools and coping skills. They kits also include accessible mental health resources.

THE INSTRUCTIONS

These are the instructions for Teen Mental Health Care Kits. Questions? Email us at hey@kyndhub.com

1. Locate the instruction sheet included with your kit. 

  • Find your Kynd Code. Tear the code in half.
    • Save your half. 
    • Put the other half aside to put into the completed kit.

*The Kynd Code allows you to post your finished kit on KyndHub. The recipient code allows them to find your post, connect with you, and share their gratitude for your kyndness. If the recipient uses their code, you'll get to see where your kit ends up and who benefited from it. 

 

2. Complete the gratitude practice included in your KyndKit.

This is your personal gratitude practice. Focusing on gratitude promotes mental wellness and resiliency. Take a moment to write down some of the things you are grateful for.



 

3. Write Your Card

Included materials used for this step: 

  • Folded white card and matching envelope
  • Colored Pencils
  • Pen

 

Steps:

  • Use the enclosed crayons and pen to decorate the card and envelope. 
    • (When you are done, include the colored pencils and pen in the kit.)
  • Express your encouragement and include a hopeful message. 
  • Decorate the front and the inside of the card.
  • Decorate the outside of the card.
    • Can't think of what to write, draw a picture!
  • Put your card in the matching, decorated envelope. 
  • Include the recipient portion of the Kynd Code in the card to make it easy to find. 

 

OPTIONAL:

  • Write a message or draw a picture on random pages of the coloring book or journal. When they use these tools, they will receive your messages. 


4. Complete the Resources Guide

  • Use the included pen to complete the resources guide with your favorite mental health practices or resources. 

 

5. Decorate the Larger White Envelope

Included materials used for this step: 

  • Large white envelope
  • Colored Pencils
  • Pen

 

Steps:

  • Decorate the envelope with a bright, encouraging message or picture. (This envelope will hold their mental health care kit.)
  • Make it colorful and fun!

     

    6. Optional Items to Add

    These are just a few ideas for additional items you can add to the package.

    • Post-it notes
    • Playing cards
    • Stickers
    • Small, quick crafts
    • Crayons
    • Markers
    • Other craft and art supplies

     

    7. Pack the Kit

    Included materials used for this step: 

    • The card and envelope you decorated
    • The large white envelope you decorated
    • Journal
    • Colored pencils
    • Pen
    • Coloring book
    • Stress ball
    • Squishy toys
    • Gum
    • Tissues
    • Play Doh
    • Mints
    • List of resources
    • Any other optional items you want to include

     

    Steps:

    • Pack the materials into the large white envelope
    • Seal the envelope
    • Don't forget to include the Kynd Code.

     

    8. Delivery Options

    • Give the care kit to a teen in your life or drop it at a local school, community center, or teen gathering place.

          OR

    • Get your shipping label from us (no charge) HERE. We will collect the kits and deliver them to local schools. 

     

      9. Go Back to Your Gratitude Exercise

      • Write down any additional gratitude you now feel.
      • Go to the first prompt "someone you are grateful for". 
      • Fill out your included Kynd Card and give it to that person.
      • Now you've done an act of kyndness, too!

       

      10. Share It

      Post your completed kit on KyndHub using your Kynd Code. The recipient of your kit has the option to connect with you on KyndHub using their Kynd Code and you can see where your kit ends up.
